Why stock this wine?

Always a favourite at our tastings. Feedback often includes the phrase “that’s my summer wine”.

It is simply an elegant, premium white with a compelling modern story.

Food-friendly, though equally delicious as an aperitif.

What’s it like?

Known as a Ribolla Gialla just over the border in Italy, it has the freshness of Chablis with the texture of Chenin Blanc.

Tasting note

Clean citrus notes, yet with structure that stands up to food.

Food pairing

Perfect with fish, salads, mild cheeses and poultry.

The producer

Perched on one of the steepest hills in the Brda region, right where Slovenia meets Italy, Matjaž Četrtič makes wine that feels inseparable from its place. At Ferdinand Winery, Rebula vineyards cling to steeper slopes overlooking the alpine foothills and the plains beyond.

From his teens, Matjaž had one central conviction: Rebula (the indigenous white grape of Brda) deserved to be noticed, not tucked away in anonymous blends. He built a cellar which a Bond villain would be proud of and committed himself to making Rebula the heart of everything the winery produces.

Sustainability

Rebula is a “secret weapon in coping with climate change, thanks to its deep roots.”
